Just do it!

I was sent this article this morning with typical excuses as to why you don't start a company and I am sure I have used a couple and I still use a couple till today.

Sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and do it. This is the year!

Morning Vibes – Episode 1

I thrive on routine and the activities around my days are pretty standard.

My mornings before heading to work are my ‘me time’. I get to think and process the day ahead. I have never been a person to just get out of bed change and rush off. No, my morning include making coffee (standard) and fresh juice, doing some work and also checking social media, news and emails. Sometimes I workout in the morning but since I’m super fresh and able to work at 6am I prefer working out after work.

My latest morning routine will potentially be playing a weekly series in my blog. Whilst I change and get ready for work, I enjoy listening to some interesting Youtube clips.  I listening to clips from founders and from successful people.

I love this routine as it gives me a sense of inspiration to fight the day with especially on days when I don’t feel like going to the office. Some talks also have some great tips and lessons for starting a business and managing a business which are super useful. I always keep a diary close by.

Some of my favourite speaker series are clips from Ted or Y Combinator start-up school, however I also like to listen to talks by people I find fascinating.

For my first Morning Vibes - Episode 1, I listened to a discussion with a person I like to listen to often lately. This is Sophia Amoruso from Nasty Gal. I still need to buy her book as it sounds pretty great but till then I’ll enjoy listening to her on stage.

One video I watched lately with her was a discussion between Sophia Amoruso (Nasty Gal) Brian Chesky (Air BnB ) and Ben Silbermann (Pinterest) at Vanity Fair’s New Establishment Summit. During the discussion they discussed how they formed their companies and built such huge brands.

Always love listening to how people made it from humble beginning and with sheer determination. Despite their success and wealth all three were super down-to-earth and honest and it made for an interesting morning dressing-up routine. They also have great insight into the dynamics of their company and company culture creation. I find that this is super important. Apart from the fact that it gives your employees a sense of belonging, it is very often a continuation of the style of leadership and of the brand.

Anyway, find 40 minutes to watch this:

Weekends

Like everyone probably does, I long for the weekends.

I love the down time, I love not needing to rush rush. Generally weekends are always hectic but its still different knowing I don't need an alarm clock.

I don’t crave the weekend to party, and I don’t crave the weekend because I hate my job so much I just want to have nothing to do. My weeks are super busy, as most peoples are, and very much a routine. I wake up early and work on side projects, go to work, go to gym and either go out with friends or go home and do some more work.

In the weekend I am more relaxed, I love spending time outside and enjoying the day either going for walks, or for lunch and just relaxing. I still do some work but even then its outside my usual routine so it doesn't feel so stressful.

Another reason I love the weekend is to catch up on reading- the newspapers, blogs or any interesting articles I saved during the week. This usually gives me some inspiration to work on my entrepreneurial ideas/plans.

CONFESSIONS OF A NEW BLOGGER

To any current followers I may or may not know, please bare with me for now I am still trying to figure out blogger and how it works so I am sure I will make a few rookie mistakes and it won't look as pretty as I want it to be.

Thank you for your understand :)

If you can't stop thinking about it, don't stop hustling....

So a little bit about my current job, despite being 25, I am already at working with my second company. Th

It took me a while post-graduation to know what I wanted to do. My major obstacle was deciding between living and working in London or Malta.

My partner was based in Malta so that was a big swing for me to work in Malta and I assumed the job market would be easier to get a good entry level job. I was right, there were more entry level jobs available and less competition and I was a good candidate. What I found out however was that very few of the jobs met the criteria and experience I was after and most of the companies didn’t fit the atmosphere I was so eager to find at work. Eventually I was offered a position at a company that I thought I really wanted. I was super excited to start and get going. After a while though I realised that it actually wasn’t what I was actually after.

But it was a difficult to decide that the job really wasn't for me and I felt should I be grateful for this job, for the

experience and for the salary at the end of the month. It was a brilliant role and I was learning so much although not necessarily things. However after a while I decided life is too short and I have always been someone who wanted a career I love so waking up in the morning and going to work happy is important to me. With that decisionI decided to find something else.

Luckily, and very much out of the blue, I found a new role rather fast. I have been in this position for 4 months and I am super happy. It ticks a lot of boxes, its an online business and I am working with online and digital marketing and being exposed to a lot of new experiences. These are experiences which I feel would be very useful for any of my business ideas. It is a lot a start-up environment and very much an 'all hand on deck' company so I am very grateful that I found this opportunity. The only thing that I am slightly disappointed by is that is the industry of the company which is an industry I don't like at all however for the interm I am learning so much and like the team so hopefully all I gather from here will help me find an role in a international city (yep considering a big move abroad) and with a company in an industry I love (fashion). Or hopefully I find enough spare time to kick start my company!

Hello!

Wow this is my first post for my latest project- my very own blog.

I am a huge fan of blogs and follow many via their blogs directly and through social media. Whilst I love reading them I always feel like something is missing. Whilst they 'speak' to the fashionista (yeah right) in me and give so much inspiration regarding interior and style I feel they leave out one huge part of life, Work & Career. Ultimately many have turned their blog into a job so it would be super interesting to hear about their entrepreneurial experiences or actual jobs if they have any.

Therefore I decided to start my own blog and hope that I fill out some of the missing gaps or at least give myself a portal to vent and think.

So what is the blog about? Well it is a personal blog and I will be writing about my experiences, struggles

and daily routines where I am establishing myself as a ‘Career Woman’ and wannabe entrepreneur. When I say career woman I think of my idol Sheryl Sandberg and I probably won’t even come closer to her stature or success but i do like to look to her for inspiration to lean in to my dreams.

As I mentioned I am currently establishing my career- as many 25 year olds are also doing, however I also describe myself as a wannabe entrepreneur. By this I mean, that deep down I want to be an entrepreneur; not much to explain I guess other than the fact that I want to build my own business.

It is something I think about, and work on daily- I think about the different ideas I have and which ones I should pursue and develop and I also think about my current role- am I learning enough that will help me with any of the future business I hope to one day set up? There are a lot of mind boggling questions I have and I struggle with daily however I am still a pretty motivated person and I am determined to make at least some of my dreams come true.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the blog, and whilst i embark on this new chapter in my life I think of this 'Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish'.
