I thrive on routine and the activities around my days are pretty standard.
My mornings before heading to work are my ‘me time’. I get to think and process the day ahead. I have never been a person to just get out of bed change and rush off. No, my morning include making coffee (standard) and fresh juice, doing some work and also checking social media, news and emails. Sometimes I workout in the morning but since I’m super fresh and able to work at 6am I prefer working out after work.
My latest morning routine will potentially be playing a weekly series in my blog. Whilst I change and get ready for work, I enjoy listening to some interesting Youtube clips. I listening to clips from founders and from successful people.
I love this routine as it gives me a sense of inspiration to fight the day with especially on days when I don’t feel like going to the office. Some talks also have some great tips and lessons for starting a business and managing a business which are super useful. I always keep a diary close by.
Some of my favourite speaker series are clips from Ted or Y Combinator start-up school, however I also like to listen to talks by people I find fascinating.
For my first Morning Vibes - Episode 1, I listened to a discussion with a person I like to listen to often lately. This is Sophia Amoruso from Nasty Gal. I still need to buy her book as it sounds pretty great but till then I’ll enjoy listening to her on stage.
One video I watched lately with her was a discussion between Sophia Amoruso (Nasty Gal) Brian Chesky (Air BnB ) and Ben Silbermann (Pinterest) at Vanity Fair’s New Establishment Summit. During the discussion they discussed how they formed their companies and built such huge brands.
Always love listening to how people made it from humble beginning and with sheer determination. Despite their success and wealth all three were super down-to-earth and honest and it made for an interesting morning dressing-up routine. They also have great insight into the dynamics of their company and company culture creation. I find that this is super important. Apart from the fact that it gives your employees a sense of belonging, it is very often a continuation of the style of leadership and of the brand.
Anyway, find 40 minutes to watch this:
